Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a therapeutic technique which involves the burning of a Chinese herb known as “Mug wart.” The herb can be applied directly to an acupuncture needle, or burned indirectly over the skin with a “moxa stick.”  This procedure originated over 3,000 years ago in northern China due to the extremely cold winters because the technique can quickly warm both the interior and exterior aspects of the body.

Today moxibustion is commonly used for pain relief and injury recovery as well as female disorders such as infertility and menstrual irregularity. Most often prescribed during the winter months for its warming and invigorating qualities our practitioners may utilize this technique in conjunction with other therapies such as acupuncture and herbal medicine to maximize treatment results.
